Monica Dart (b. 1971) is a Cape Town-based global photographer whose work explores people, places, and the quiet poetry of everyday life. After studying fine art photography in London in 2001, she has spent more than two decades photographing across the world.

Her travels through countries including Cuba, Japan, Italy, France, the Nordic region, New Zealand, and Australia have shaped her documentary style and fascination with human behaviour and ordinary moments that often go unnoticed.

Her series Cuba On My Mind began after a spontaneous decision in a Cape Town bookstore, where she closed her eyes and chose a destination by touching a random travel book. The book was about Cuba. That same month, in June 2008, she found herself on a plane to Havana, drawn in by the colour, light, vintage cars, and the rhythm of daily life.

She is also the founder of SEEN™, where she creates personal brand portrait experiences for women in business, helping them tell the visual story of their work and presence.

Monica’s work has been exhibited internationally and featured in publications including Bazaar, Discovery Health, Elle, Glamour, Hemma, and Marie Claire. She currently lives and works in Cape Town and is developing a new photographic series inspired by Bali.
