    Sizani Baloyi (b. 1994, Giyani, Limpopo) is a Johannesburg-based visual artist working across painting, sculpture, and printmaking. He moved to Johannesburg in 2001, where he currently lives and works in a small informal settlement community in Soweto.

    Baloyi’s artistic journey began at a young age while attending ClipValley Primary School, where he won an art competition that earned the school a computer. He later attended PJ Simelane Secondary School, excelling in Visual Arts and graduating in 2014 as a top-performing student in the subject.

    In 2015, he enrolled at Artist Proof Studio, where he trained as a professional printmaker for four years, graduating in 2018. During this time, he received recognition for his work, including winning the Johannesburg Chamber of Chember Art Competition in 2017. Following his studies, he completed an internship with renowned South African artist William Kentridge.

    Baloyi’s work has gained increasing visibility over the years. He was featured by Design Indaba in 2020 covered " Master of Art " and participated in the Turbine Art Fair Unearthed in 2021. He has taken part in numerous group exhibitions and has worked with various galleries as an associate artist.

    In 2025, he presented his first solo exhibition, Like Birds in the Cornfield, marking a significant milestone in his career. Baloyi is now a full-time practicing artist.

    His work explores socio-economic realities in South Africa, reflecting on themes of inequality, resilience, and hope within marginalised communities, particularly those living in informal settlements.
